Hi my name is Vince Canger, I am a
student of Sustainable International Agriculture in the second semester of
the International organic agriculture specialization and I'm from the US where
I formally studied horticultural Sciences with a specialization in
organic and sustainable crop production. My motivation for studying SIA here was
that I really enjoy the sociological environmental and economic aspects of
Agriculture and I found that the SIA program had a very holistic approach
that connected all these aspects and therefore I decided to study here. I'm
Ana Stoddard I come from Argentina I'm studying my last semester of the SIA
program my specialization is in agribusiness and rural development
economics. Before I came to Germany I was studying economics in Argentina and I
worked for Argentina's wine industry. I decided to study in Göttingen because
it's a university which has a superb prestige, it's located in the center of
Germany and Europe.
I really consider this to be a key location and a hub for
knowledge. The learning situation in Witzenhausen for example because this
is what I'm familiar with you tend to have a smaller class size maybe 10 to 20
people depending on the class and because of this you tend to get a pretty
good interaction with the professor in a quite formal but also the times in more
informal way this is I think good for just opening up discussions and opening
up knowledge between the professor and the students bit easier for to transfer
information. I think something really special about the SIA master program is
being involved in this international context and also having very close
relationships with people from all around the world in our classroom. Yeah
it's definitely good and interesting when you're studying in an international
context not only to get theory about agricultural practices all around the
world but also maybe to have people from those countries you're learning about in
class with you and therefore you get to hear maybe a more practical side or they
can give input into what you're learning about theoretical.
Specialty in SIA
program is set concept but the organic yeah because I never know before so
deep perhaps I can apply these concepts in my country. I think the SIA program
also offers a lot of possibilities for students to do practical experience and
research. Yeah I think definitely because of the unique and and varying nature of
the program you have a lot of opportunities to do projects or to work
under professors or PhD students in topics that you're interested in and
even if there isn't a topic that's being advertised out there there's usually a
spot available for you to do anything that you're interested in or have the
initiative to do. I think it was definitely the right decision to study
this program since so far has met all my expectations
I have learned a lot from agriculture from economics from development issues
and besides that and it's also been a cultural experiences I've met a lot of
people from all over the world people from Germany I've been able to get in
touch with the culture to see how things work here in agricultural related topics
and also in daily life because everything is different and then you
gain a broader perspective of how things are working and how people are behaving
and also it's really good to be in another place with a different language
since you can gain a lot from that experience
so it's been a really really exciting time for me and I really reaching time
here in Göttingen.
I think studying the SIA was one of the best decisions I've
ever made I have truly enjoyed my experience in Germany I've made new
friends I've gained so much knowledge in agriculture it's really inspired me
to go further on. If you ask me it's something I would really really
recommend you so I hope you join this year program. you you.
