Fiber Gel to help student meal cause

MUNDELEIN - Fiber Gel Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of Circle Group Holdings Inc. said Friday it has joined a campaign to help feed latch-key children. The campaign, created by the Rev. George Clements and his One Church-One Family organization, in partnership with McDonald's Corp. and Fiber Gel, will help provide after-school meals and snacks to latch-key kids in churches across the country. There are many programs that supply needy children with school supplies, but few that give them a nutritious meal before starting homework, Fiber Gel said. At the same time, more kids are becoming overweight, so Fiber Gel will let the program use the technology for its Z-trim, a corn-based fat replacement, at minimal cost to create healthful, low-fat foods.
